Laenith: The name of both a city and a region of tropical jungle. The city is built around a large pyramid with a portal at its peak. The pyramid is surrounded by an outdoor market. The city proper is surrounded by a wide canal across which the wealthier denizens live.
Laion River: (LAY on) A river north of High Haven that flows to the coastal city of Seaside. It is a major shipping route to Seaside for overseas export. Produce and lumber are the primary goods shipped along this route. The towns of Ephiliam and Aquaelias are on the banks of the Laion River.

Layim: In Elf Doubt, a pig-like bandit in Laenith.
Leprechaun: A mythical elf-like creature from Irish folklore, known for their pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. If a leprechaun is ever captured he must grant three wishes. In Elf Mastery there is a general belief that a captured leprechaun must hand over his gold. Burburt, the first person Kyla meets at her student orientation, is a leprechaun.
Leshy: A leshy is a Slavic forest deity. In Elf Doubt, Mokosh is a wicked leshy who kidnapped Hajar and enslaved her in his enchanted clearing. This clearing is impossible to find except for Mokosh himself and anyone he links to it.

She settled when she met her husband Philosthenes, a gentle and peaceful man, though their early relationship was peppered with trouble as Lia tried to withdraw from her previous life. She took to art as a way to relax and deal with the troubling images still in her mind, and became quite skilled at various forms of sculpting, though she has since given that up as well as she has been raising her children and managing the family business, as her husband's work frequently takes him out of town.
Lilan's Cross: A market section of the lowest level of the Undine. Far out of the way of most shoppers, it caters to niche markets of specialized items. Ymir's curio shop 'The Wishing Well' is here.
Lili: (LEE lee) A demoness. Her full name is Linima Goj, and her parents are Hiv Goj and Asz, daughter of Kilit. Her family currently lives in Ja'ava. Whereas most demons and demonesses have a dark, selfish, and manipulative character, Lili has a spark of compassion for those less fortunate, such as the hungry and homeless. However, her upbringing and demonic mind struggle with these feelings and have warped her psychology. She struggles toward kindness, and her sharp temper and low threshold to other people make her seem rude and abrasive. She is in fact a bully, targeting people she perceives to be well-off yet weak of strength and integrity, seeing it as her duty to 'toughen them up' for life. She is not motivated by cruelty, but rather frustration at those she perceives as soft. She takes an instant dislike to Kyla for this reason. Despite this, she is willing to work tirelessly to help those who suffer through no fault of their own. She is studying fire magic and psychology at Equinox.
Linkin: A dwarf, and new recruit into the Royal Army. A reclusive personality, he is sent on his first tour of duty to replace Gobbin at Sulafat Station after his predecessor mysteriously disappears. He soon regrets this assignment as he discovers the dull and repetitive nature of the work.
Long Night, The: The period of Erebus' assault after deliveries of light from the sun stopped. Earth fell into a gradual darkness that became so deep it couldn't be broken by natural light. Only aqualux, magically enchanted with aurichalcum or blood, could break the darkness.
Lug: An earth elemental on a work-for-credit program at the center of the earth. Part of Heff's crew, but often bullied by Heff for his love of unicorns, fairies and pretty pictures. Lug is meek and non-confrontational. He has the rare ability to draw size and strength from the earth.
Lumpy: A Digan from the cloister in Alfheim. His actual name is Lhmkhr, though Kyla can't pronounce it and simplified it to Lumpy.
