Demon/demoness: Demons and demonesses are responsible for the control of fire spirits and manage the earth's magma layers and fiery abyssal interior. Though followers of Order, they are said to have defected from the forces of Chaos just before Chaos was defeated, and so are mistrusted by many other races. Their reputation for being sinister and malicious is well-earned, however, and they are frequently at war. This doesn't seem to bother them. While they seem to love the physicality provided by adherence to Order, they enjoy social chaos, and their own government is a series of coups and assassinations.
Denzig: A great red dragon who operates Volcano Site 1109-B. A government employee, he has become disgruntled with his employers and frequently disregards the protocols laid out for his position. His job is simple, in that he only needs to pull a lever to vent his volcano every four hundred years or so, and in his free time he disguises himself and cares for Whitehall, the human settlement down the mountain. He has developed a fatherly affection and friendship with many of the people, and takes it upon himself to watch out for them. Denzig has spent much of his life accruing gold and wealth like any other dragon, but his greed has subsided lately and he has become rather generous with his wealth. Though this is the only known work published under his name, it is one of the most ancient original works known to exist, which helps maintain the integrity of the text through reprints and translations. It is therefore considered a definitive work among scholars regarding the history of the World of Order and its conflicts with the children of Chaos.
Digan: (DIG in) An earth elemental responsible for the earth's lithosphere (crust and upper mantle). Earthquakes fall into their realm of responsibility. The Digans of Alfheim, once known for their aurichalcum, have long since broken ties with King Oberon. DNA: Deoxyribonucleic acid. The blueprint for all life. Animal and Plant Designers knit a double helix and attach beads (adenine, cytosine, guanine, and thymine) to create the pattern for every form of life. To the layperson, an untreated strand of DNA looks like a very long, narrow scarf.
Doram: Hyfell's half-brother. Though dwarf in stature, Doram has horns and slotted eyes, and is believed to be half satyr, though a few believe he may have been fathered by a demon. Doram's true patriarchal lineage was never confirmed by his and Hyfell's mother, and rumors abound. He is more openly critical of government than his half-brother. This trait has brought him into a series of conflicts and arrests.

Dryads gain most of their nutrition from melding with trees, though their body of flesh requires some protein. Many dryads eat eggs, birds, fish, or even insects to meet this requirement.
Duke Ukko: Lord of the Sky, Master of the Storm. Duke Ukko is a great Air Spirit who oversees the world's weather from his observatory in Aeolis. Though he is technically a Duke, reporting to King Oberon, he counts himself superior to the Kings and Queens that rule on the earth below. Whether they take offense to this is unknown, as no one wants to antagonize the austere and unforgiving master of weather. Duke Ukko is Aura's father, though his parenting style has been distant and he takes little interest in her behavior, as long as she does nothing to shame his name.
Dunkin: A dwarf who has spent the last twenty years working as a watchman at Sulafat Station. This was a position he took mostly to avoid being around people. Raised in poverty amidst a war with a neighboring orc tribe, Dunkin learned to use force and cruelty to get what he wants. He joined the Royal Army, supposing the life of a soldier would allow him to act out his anger and aggression, but the constant frustration of dealing with officers and fellow soldiers convinced him to sign up for a guard post as far from the earth as possible.

Dwarfs stem from German and Norse legend, and popularized in Tolkien's Middle Earth.
